Fomares is one of the only ocean conservation funds in Latinamerica and currently the only one working to protect Mexican oceans, coastal zones and surrounding waters with accountable actions and measurable results.
In Mexico the marine surface is 1.5 times bigger than its land surface. It is 315 million hectares big and it is connected with the Pacific Ocean, the Gulf of Mexico, the Sea of Cortez and the Caribbean Sea; all of these are home to an unparalleled biodiversity, making Mexico one of the most biodiverse countries in the world.
